This is a character I did at work for an animation last year. It was terribly rushed and I never really liked it, yet I always liked the idea of it. Having some free time this week I decided to revisit if for a still. This is about 80% 3d render, and 20% Photoshop illustration. I set up a basic skin texture in LW and rendered all the lights in separate passes to give me complete control. I had radiosity, keylight, fill and a rim light passes set up. Since the original version was so rushed, I added many details in PS. It was quite relaxing to do something on "my time" again. In fact I liked it so much, I feel I may have "overworked it", but it was worth it.
Thanks for viewing.
I created the mech from scratch. The chopper is from Turbosquid. The destroyed building is a mix of 3d and 2d.

This started as a character used for a consumer DVD that was created last year. Due to time restraints, it was not done to my satisfaction, so I dug it up and tweaked it to my satisfaction. It's created in LW w/ ZB textures. Allot of PS work was done on it due to time restraints and the fact that I just wanted one render. Hope you like it and thanks for looking.
It is based on the wonderful art of Feng Zhu. i used it as a test to see how close i can make a exsisting design without giving myself the luxury of modifying the tough areas.
here is the original feng design to see how close i got:

"the Germ"

This is a freelance project for a disenfectant product. This is the germ that's about to be sprayed and killed by the product. The final will be lit differently to be placed in a photo enviornment, but i set this up for my own test before i try the composite. i like the bolder, colorful lighting.
I finally got to play with the G2 pluggin from worley. FANTASTIC pluggin! even though i was on a learning curve, i can see the benifits! it took a while to play with, but i really like the skin scattering. i even got to play with sasquatch again. The new bone tools in LW8 are also a step in the right direction and made it fairly easy to set up.
There is suppose to be a animation for this guy in the future..we'll see.
Not sure if this kind of work belongs here, but this was a broadcast animation for a awards dinner.
I wanted an acadamy awards feel to it with lots of glam.

The Oddfather

The Oddfather is one of my original models. Years ago i made a short animation of him based off a much simpler model. This render was a test to see how finished i can take a render. I started by posing the rigged model in Lightwave. I then exported the morphed pose back to the original model. From there, I reworked all the bad deformations and sent it back to Lightwave and rendering the model in, I must note the wonderful G2 and Sasquatch plugins for the hair and skin textures. Both of which take much time to get right, but the rewards are worth it. From there I took the render and tweaked it in photoshop.
